Bandadjou Mnoungou

Bandadjou Mnoungou is situated in the northeast of the island

It is both a trekking site and an agrotourism site, where you can discover different beautiful sceneries to visit

There are wonderful valleys, impressive high cliffs covered by wild forest,

Mlima Dodjo is an old volcano crater covered by forest, where the goats used to take refuge in the dry season because of the rich and green vegetations

There is also the big cliffs of BWE LAHIRI, which was a legendary cliff for the Shepherds used to sit on the cliffs like in a chair overlooking the whole area to control the herd of goats and cows

There are many kinds of small wild animals, and it is a place to see indigenous birds, butterflies and reptiles like the little monarch, Grande Comore cuckoo roller, the Comoro fodi and some endemic reptiles

Phelsuma comorensis Boettger, 1913 is a species of gecko that lives on the island of Grande Comore and typically dwells on trees. It feeds on insects and nectar.

This lizard belongs to the smallest day geckos. It can reach a maximum length of about 12 centimetres (4.7 in). The body colour is olive green or pale green. A rost-coloured stripe extends from the nostril to the eye. A black lateral stripe extends from the eye to the hind leg. On the lower back, there are brownish or red-brick coloured dots. The legs have dark spots.

This species is only known from the island of Grande Comore. It is found in higher areas (600 meters and upwards). It is not currently endangered.

These day geckos feed on various insects and other invertebrates. They also like to lick soft, sweet fruit, pollen and nectar.

This area is one of the best places on the island where you can discover most of the wild aspects of the island.
