The Captain Fish
With rich, delicate flesh, the captain fish is a fish caught in the waters of the Comoros. Belonging to the Lethrinus genus, it includes Lethrinus nebulosus and Lethrinus mahsena, the white captain and the mahsena captain, which are caught in the Indian Ocean. This carnivorous fish measures between 40 and 90 cm. It is a robust species valued both for its meat and its symbolic significance. The fish can be eaten smoked, as carpaccio, in salads, or cooked with various sauces. It is worth noting that this fish has an elegant appearance.
The Wrasse
Also known as “labrum” in Latin or “lip,” the wrasse is a genus found in the waters of the Comoros archipelago. This fish genus counts between 500 and 600 species and is the second-largest family of fish in the world after the cyprinids. It is within this family that you find cleaner fish.
