Mount Karthala provides a unique habitat for endemic species.

Natural Aspect of Mount Karthala
Mount Karthala, with its spectacular landscapes and exceptional biodiversity, offers a unique experience for visitors. The tropical forests cut by fresh lava flows, economically important trees like redwood, and endemic species of the Comoros contribute to the richness of its natural aspect. Excursions in Karthala National Park allow visitors to discover the geographical diversity and enjoy panoramic views that delight everyone.

The forests of Karthala are rich in endemic species such as Weinmannia comorensis and Ocotea comoriensis. The preservation of rare bird species like the Small Owl of Grande Comore (Otus pauliani) and the protection of wet forest areas are at the heart of the park's priorities.
