The Noctural turttle watch tour is operated in the nature island of Moheli, the traditional village of Itsamia
This excellent natural and and noctural tour gives you an enjoyable opportunity to discover this breeding and productive activities of the green sea tuttles of the Comoros
This is one of the rare areas in the world where the the turttle watch is not seasonal but available all year around
It only follow the sea tide, turttle coming up when the tide is getting high, dig and lay the eggs and follow the tide down at low tide
So guide have only to know the tide movement to insure the exact time for night to operate this tour
Sometimes can be just before or after sunset, but can also be late evening depending to the sea tide
With your visit you support the community's efforts to protect these species. Your presence on the beach protects the eggs and the nesting turtle from natural predators and poachers.
It also generates an economic alternative for the local community.
Tour Itinerary
Tour depart from the hotel and drive to Itsamia village where you shall be welcome by a local village guide
You shall be invited for a walk to discover the beach before heading to the eco bungalow restaurant for local diner that can include seafood if required
After dinner you prepare for the turttle watch on the beach when turttle start to come out of the water as tide is coming up
Visit the turttles digging big holes and laying several eggs
Do not use flash when taking the pictures
The guide will also take you to show the baby turttles of the previous weeks when coming out of eggs and trying to join back the water in the sea
Drive back to the hotel
