Comoros Island Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Moroni, Comoros
Arrive in Moroni, the capital of the Comoros Islands, and transfer to your accommodation. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure for you to relax or start exploring the area on your own.
No guided arrangements or meals are included today.
Overnight: Hotel Jardin de la Paix or similar.
Day 2: Moroni to Chindini Beach
Breakfast and drive to the southern part of the island.
Arrive at Chindini Beach, located at the southern tip of Grande Comore Island.
Enjoy a coastal trek to the mangrove forest of Sima Mboini.
In the evening, enjoy a seafood barbecue dinner.
Overnight: Camping tents.
Day 3: Chindini to Mohéli Island – The Pearl of the Indian Ocean
Breakfast and boat transfer to Mohéli Island, the smallest of the four islands in the Comoros Archipelago. It is also the wildest and least populated island of the Union, but one of the most scenic and best preserved, often called the true “Pearl of the Comoros.”
Transfer to Itsamia Eco Bungalows and enjoy a short trek to Lake Boundouni, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve known for its endemic waterfowl such as the Mohéli Little Grebe.
In the evening, enjoy a nocturnal tour to the turtle beach, where you may see green turtles laying their eggs on the shore.
Overnight: Eco Bungalows.
Day 4: Itsamia to Nioumachoi Isles
Breakfast and drive to Nioumachoi Village, then embark on a boat to the famous Wenefu Island, one of the most beautiful and mythical natural islands of the Mohéli Marine Park Reserve.
Enjoy a barbecue lunch and snorkeling on the island’s beach, where you can experience the adventure of a true Robinson Crusoe–style island.
Overnight: Camping in tents on this isolated and uninhabited island.
Day 5: Boat Back to Nioumachoi Village and Drive to Fomboni
Breakfast and boat transfer back to Nioumachoi Village.
Drive to Fomboni and transfer to Relais de Singani or similar accommodation.
The rest of the day is free at leisure. An optional city tour is available.
Day 6: Flight Back to Moroni
Breakfast and transfer to the airport for your flight back to Moroni.
Upon arrival in Moroni, transfer to Hotel Jardin de la Paix.
Overnight: Hotel.
Day 7: Trekking to Mount Karthala – Camping on the Volcano Crater
08:00 – Begin the ascent of Mount Karthala, a dynamic trek crossing a variety of landscapes.
At an altitude of 2,361 meters, Mount Karthala is the highest peak in the archipelago and one of the largest active volcanic craters in the world, measuring about 8 km in circumference.
The trek includes an altitude gain of approximately 1,600 meters to the base camp. Along the way, discover endemic fauna and flora, including rare birds and medicinal plants.
Driving duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes by a 4x4 vehicle
Hiking duration: Approximately 3 hours ascent and 2.5 hours descent to the camping area
A 4x4 drive takes you to 1,600 meters altitude, followed by a hike to the summit at 2,361 meters.
13:00 – Visit the Caldera, one of the largest in the world, measuring approximately 3 km in diameter, with visible fumaroles around the crater.
14:30 – Picnic lunch followed by a trek down to the camping area.
16:30 – Arrival at the campsite and time to enjoy the surrounding landscapes.
18:00 – Dinner around a campfire under the stars of the Southern Cross.
Overnight: Camping tents.

Day 8: Descent Back to Moroni
Wake up early and enjoy breakfast at 07:00.
08:00 – Trek down through the primary forest, exploring the rich fauna and flora of Mount Karthala National Park.

Comoro Blue Pigeon
Comoro Olive Pigeon
11:00 – Arrive at Nvouni Village and transfer to Chomoni Beach to experience authentic Comorian beach bungalows, where you can enjoy a traditional atmosphere reminiscent of the 19th century.
Experience oil lamps, grilled lobster, and traditional songs and storytelling.
Overnight: Traditional beach bungalows.
Day 9: Chomoni to Moroni
Breakfast and drive back to Moroni.
Transfer to Hotel Jardin de la Paix.
Enjoy a city tour of Moroni, including:
The famous Medina of Moroni, with its narrow streets and colorful fabric shops
The Old Friday Mosque, built in 1427
Volo Volo Market, known for spices and souvenirs
Return to the hotel.
Day 10: Departure – End of Comoros Services
Breakfast and transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
End of Comoros services.
